Dr. Charalambos A. Charalambous is an Associate Professor, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Cyprus. He has graduated from UMIST, U.K in 2002 (B.Eng. - 1st Class) and in 2006 (PhD - Electrical Power Engineering). He is currently the manager of the Power System Modelling (PSM) Laboratory that operates under the auspices of FOSS research Centre for Sustainable Energy. His main research interests include the identification, impact assessment and mitigation of hidden DC faults on PV and other power system applications. He has also documented experience in cost /benefit analysis and risk management of power system plant and operation accounting for the penetration of DER. He has published 58 papers in top class peer-reviewed journals (26) and in major refereed international conferences (32). As a principal investigator, he has received around 0.5 million euros from industry in the U.K., Greece, Malaysia, Italy and Cyprus. Since 2015, he is an active member as an expert in the International Standardisation Committee IEC TC/81 (WG11), and an invited member in the IEEE working Group (IEEE Vehicular Technology Society/Rail Transportation Standards Committee) in Stray Current Corrosion/Mitigation in DC Rail Transit Systems.
